Description
E11EVEN Hotel & Residences is an ambitious concrete architectural marvel that, upon completion, will stand 65-stories tall, featuring 449 residences, 36,852 square feet of commercial space, 2,049 square feet of office space, and a four-floor parking garage, further enhancing the Miami skyline. Its second tower, E11EVEN Residences Beyond, will accommodate over 550 residential units alongside office, commercial, retail, and additional parking facilities. Developed by E11EVEN Partners and Property Markets Group, this high-profile luxury dual-tower project is centrally located at 20 Northeast 11th Street in Downtown Miami. The construction effort, led by general contractor John Moriarty & Associates, required meticulous planning and execution, with the foundation pour being a particularly remarkable feat of engineering and logistics.
As several key suppliers and contractors, including Skyrise Engineering, Fly & Form, Cemex, West Wind, and Florida Concrete Unlimited, collaborated to optimize the concrete workflow within a tight project timeline, the need for real-time concrete testing quickly became evident as a critical component for ensuring on-time completion. This is where Giatec, an NRMCA Member company, after an eager endorsement from Skyrise Engineering, played a transformative role. By integrating its SmartRock® wireless concrete sensors into the project, Giatec helped streamline construction timelines. SmartRock technology provided crucial early-age concrete strength monitoring, enabling real-time decision-making that significantly improved both daily operations and the broader construction workflow.
On June 23, 2023, E11EVEN Hotel & Residences achieved a major milestone with the completion of its massive foundation pour. Over the course of 16 hours, 70 cement trucks rotated in and out of the site, delivering a total of 6,700 cubic yards of concrete. As soon as SmartRock sensors were brought in, the project team was immediately able to reduce the number of field-cured cylinders cast, thereby streamlining quality control processes while maintaining precise strength assessments. These sensors provided 24/7 remote access to real-time concrete data, allowing for more efficient decision-making and minimizing unnecessary delays by reducing reliance on traditional break tests. The implementation of SmartRock ensured a seamless, accurate, and efficient concrete placement process, reinforcing the project's commitment to high-quality construction standards.
