California Firefighter's Memorial

Description

The California Firefighter's Memorial project is a meaningful expansion to the existing memorial in Capitol Park which honor more than 1,500 firefighters who have died in the line of duty since 1850. The project expands the initial wall which houses the names of fallen firefighter's who's names are etched within the limestone; while also paying tribute to them with monuments and statues spread throughout a mesmerizing parking that sits just behind Sacramento's State Capitol. The project opened to the public on the weekend of October 11th with a ceremony and family recession honoring the 36 firefighters that lost their lives in the last year while fighting California wildfires.

Evidence

Cemex played a crucial role in the Firefighters Memorial Expansion Project by serving as the ready-mix concrete supplier. Recognizing the significance of the memorial to both the community and the company, Cemex made exceptional efforts to prioritize this project. They adjusted their entire production backlog to accommodate early morning pours at 5 AM throughout the duration of the expansion. This commitment not only facilitated timely progress on the memorial but also demonstrated Cemex’s dedication to honoring the firefighters and supporting the community. Their involvement was essential in ensuring the project's success and enhancing its impact.
